Puzaku
Word Logic · Brain Training — Free browser puzzle
What is Puzaku?
Puzaku is a free word logic puzzle that you can play directly in your browser — no download, no registration, no app required. It combines the logical deduction of grid-based puzzles with the vocabulary challenge of anagrams, creating a unique two-phase brain training experience that tests both your reasoning and your word skills in a single timed session.
Every puzzle starts with a partially filled letter grid. Your goal is to complete the grid so that every row, every column, and every box contains each letter of a hidden word exactly once — the same logical rules you would find in a number-placement puzzle, but with letters instead of digits. Once the grid is complete, the game reveals the letters as a scrambled anagram, and you race to unscramble them and spell out the hidden word before the clock stops.
Puzaku is designed for short, focused sessions that sharpen your mind. A single puzzle takes anywhere from one to five minutes depending on your chosen grid size and difficulty. The combination of spatial logic, pattern recognition, and vocabulary recall makes it an effective daily brain training exercise that feels more like a game than a workout.
How to Play
Phase 1 — Fill the Grid: You are presented with a letter grid that has some cells pre-filled. Your task is to place the remaining letters so that every row, every column, and every box contains each letter of the hidden word exactly once. Tap an empty cell to select it, then choose a letter from the palette. The timer starts as soon as you place your first letter. If you get stuck, hints are available — though they come with a time penalty that increases based on how many you have used.
Phase 2 — Crack the Anagram: Once the grid is complete, the letters of the hidden word appear in a scrambled order. Tap them in the correct sequence to spell the word. The timer keeps running from the grid phase, so your final time reflects how quickly you solved both challenges. If you recognise the word immediately, this phase takes just a few seconds — but trickier words can add valuable time to your score.
Beat Your Best Time: Every puzzle is timed and your personal best is saved for each level. Puzaku tracks both your best time on each individual level and your overall fastest time across all levels, so you always have a record to chase. Share your results with friends using the built-in share card.
Three Grid Sizes, Three Difficulty Levels
Puzaku offers nine different combinations of grid size and difficulty to suit every skill level. The 4×4 Novice grid uses four-letter words and is perfect for beginners or for a quick warm-up. The 6×6 Classic grid uses six-letter words and provides the core Puzaku experience — challenging enough to require real deduction, fast enough to fit in a coffee break. The 9×9 Master grid uses nine-letter words and demands serious concentration, with larger boxes and more complex letter interactions.
Each grid size can be played on Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulty. The difficulty setting controls how many letters are pre-filled in the grid — Easy gives you more starting letters so fewer deductions are needed, while Hard leaves the grid almost empty, requiring you to work out the placement of nearly every letter yourself.
Unlimited Levels and Daily Streaks
Puzaku features an unlimited progression system. Each level uses a different word drawn from a curated word bank, and your progress is saved permanently in your browser. You can revisit completed levels to try for a faster time or push ahead to tackle new words. There is no end — the game grows with you.
Play every day to build your streak. Streaks are more than cosmetic — a longer streak reduces the time penalty you receive when using hints. At seven consecutive days your hint penalty drops, at fourteen days it drops again, and at thirty days you reach the minimum penalty tier. The streak counter resets if you miss a day, so daily play is rewarded with a tangible competitive advantage.
Alongside the main levels, Puzaku offers a Weekly Challenge — a single puzzle that every player in the world receives for the same week. Compare your time against the global leaderboard and see how you rank. A new challenge appears every Monday.
Cloud Save and Leaderboard
By default, all your progress is stored locally in your browser. If you want to protect your stats or compete on the leaderboard, you can optionally enable cloud save in the settings. This syncs your progress to a secure cloud database so you can restore it on any new device using a unique Save Code. No account, email, or personal details are required — Puzaku generates an anonymous player ID automatically.
The leaderboard is double opt-in: you must enable cloud save first, then separately choose to show your times publicly. Your leaderboard name is a randomly generated three-word phrase like "Glacial Iron Wolverine" — anonymous, consistent, and unique to you. You can remove yourself from the leaderboard at any time with a single tap.
